Dieser Titel ergibt sich aus der einzigartigen Kombination an Eigenschaften wie guter Korrosionsbest\u00e4ndigkeit, hoher Festigkeit und Biokompatibilit\u00e4t bei gleichzeitig geringer Dichte. Aufgrund dieser Kriterien finden Ti-Legierungen immer h\u00e4ufiger Anwendung in Bereichen wie Luft- und Raumfahrttechnik, Automobilindustrie oder Medizintechnik.<br>Eine breite industrielle Verwendung bleibt Ti trotz seiner relativen H\u00e4ufigkeit als vierth\u00e4ufigstes Element in der Erdkruste verwehrt. Grund hierf\u00fcr ist der hohe Preis hervorgerufen durch hohe Herstellungskosten. Diese zu senken und so dem Titan die breite Massenzug\u00e4nglichkeit zu erm\u00f6glichen ist Anliegen der Forschung.<br>Eine Prozesskostensenkung k\u00f6nnte sowohl durch eine Prozessschrittminimierung als auch eine Effizienzerh\u00f6hung erfolgen. Aus diesem Grund sind Untersuchungen zur direkten Gewinnung von Ti aus Rutil unternommen worden. Durch aluminotherm. Umsetzung des TiO2 mit Aluminium k\u00f6nnte der aufwendige Chlorierungs- und Reduktionsschritt im Krollprozess wegfallen. Weiterhin sind Optimierungen dieses Prozesses vorgenommen worden wie die mech. Aktivierung des Rutils (Senkung Boostermittelzugabe bis zu 30%) oder die Untersuchung alternativer Boostermittel (Verringerung Chloremissionen).<br>Auch das Recycling von Titanpulver aus dem Additive Manufacturing wird verfolgt.
